10 Of The Most Expensive Cars In The World
In the world of expensive cars, there are some that truly exceed the bounds of what you would think would be possible from an engineering aspect alone. Then, you delve deeper into the details surrounding some of these otherworldly cars, and you see the whopping price tags. Let’s just say that these 10 cars are more so in the Bruce Wayne budget. It’s always fun to dream, though.
1. Rolls-Royce Droptail, $30 Million Plus
Rolls-Royce was obviously hard-pressed to follow up on the momentous, decadent act that was releasing the Boat Tail into the world. Yes, they were able to pull off an even more extravagant car with stunning success. This particular Rolls-Royce gathers its inspiration from classic yachts and hot rods. Each coach-built V-12 features an aluminum space frame chassis, employs a notable amount of wood trim, and comes with its own specially customized timepiece that can function as a watch. There are three Droptails out right now, which include the La Rose Noire, the Amethyst, and the Arcadia. We can still eagerly await one more. As far as expensive cars go, this is the top of the heap!
2. Pagani Huayra Codalunga, $7 Million
Wow, what an encouraging drop-off from the aforementioned $30 million and change Rolls-Royce Droptail. Now, we’re obviously within budget. The Codalunga is a reimagined version of Pagani’s original Huayra. It gives off strong 1960s racing car vibes with its stunning exterior and, of course, its AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 that can produce 840 horsepower. That’s an extra 110 horses compared to the original model. Dang, indeed.
3. Bugatti Mistral, $5 Million
Bugatti just plain old holds it down in the pricey cars game. You might say that Bugatti has truly mastered the art of building out luxury hypercars. The Mistral, though, is perhaps the most impressive. This is Bugatti’s final car that’s going to feature its iconic trademark W16. Then, with the 1,577-hp mill, there’s plenty of room for the Mistral to end up becoming the world’s most demonically fast open-top production car yet.
4. Bugatti Bolide, $4.3 Million
The Bolide only made its first public appearance at Le Mans earlier this year. This hypercar is not playing any games at all. The W16 in the Bugatti Bolid is able to achieve a 1,578 hp. It’s also quite light considering, and only weighs 3,197 lbs. So, its actual weight-to-power ratio is nearer to 2 lb/hp. That is no small feat.
5. Aspark Owl, $4.2 Million
The Aspark Owl is Japan’s first hypercar, and you might say that they crushed it. The car’s lower to the ground and elongated appearance give it a striking aesthetic as well. The Owl is also incredibly powerful due to its quad-motor electric powertrain that can deliver 1,985 hp. The only catch with the much-hyped Aspark Owl is that the car is still back hanging out in its prototype phase almost three years after production was supposed to kickstart.
6. McLaren Solus GT, $4 Million
The Solus GT from McLaren has a truly surreal exterior. This hypercar that’s only designed for the track hit the market in 2017 in Gran Turismo Sport for the PS4. Then, but five years later, McLaren put the fires of maddened excitement into car fans everywhere when they announced their plans to product a limited run of the vehicle. The car is powered entirely by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 that is claimed to produce 829 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This is all happening while it can get moving to the tune of 10,000 rpm.
7. Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s Niki Lauda, $3.9 Million
The Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s Niki Lauda features a stunning lightweight build and also a downforce-producing integrated rear fan. This car is only designed for the track. It features a multitude of aerodynamic upgrades. This includes an enormous rear wing that weighs 300 pounds less than its street-friendly twin. It also accomplishes even more power out of its Cosworth-designed 3.9-liter V-12. The naturally aspirated mill is able to hit 725 hp and 358 lb-ft. It’s not every day you see that, and it’s no wonder the car is reserved for track rides only.
8. Koenigsegg CC850, $3.7 Million
When Koenigsegg revealed their new model named the CC850, the nostalgia kicked into overdrive. It was strikingly similar to their first vehicle, which was the CC8S. The design and general shape was uncannily similar. However the new version has a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 which is inspired by the one that was featured in the Jesko. The new mill can generate up to 1,385 horses when the car runs on E85. This translates to the car being able to achieve a spring from 0-60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds, with a peak speed of 280 mph.
9. Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, $3.6 Million
Many would have no problem arguing with a mad passion that the most stunning take of the Chiron is the Pur Sport. The original conception behind the Pur Sport was to aim to produce a version that was more responsive than the coupé, while not sacrificing any precious power. What we ended up with is a V-12-powered beast of a car that is both lighter and narrower in its build.
10. Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, $3.5 Million
Pagani continues to compete against itself, and the rest of the world is undeniably lucky for that. The Roadster BC is the track-only take on the company’s second hypercar. The modifications made to the car ended up being able to generate over 1,100 pounds of downforce. Don’t forget about the monocoque made from a carbon-titanium material. This material is lighter than the material that was featured in the original version of the open-top car. The Roadster BC also includes a V-12 that can generate 791 hp and 745 lb-ft of torque. Let it rip.
