Isolated on an island in the San Francisco Bay is a prison that was home to some of the most notorious criminals in American history. Known for its brutal conditions, this high-security prison became a symbol of both punishment and defiance. Over the years, stories of escape attempts, ruthless guards, and daily hardships have made Alcatraz famous. 1. The cells weren’t very spacious. Here are the cells of two inmates who escaped.
